Signing ceremony & information session

From 5 to 9 December 2022 the Belgian Economic Mission to Japan took place. BelExpo was able to participate in the mission with our commissioner general Aldwin Dekkers and the Director general of International Economy Renaat Schrooten as representatives. The economic mission was presided by Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium. The participants attended activities in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Kyoto.

Given Expo 2025 Osaka, BelExpo was very lucky to be present and combine the activities for Expo 2025 Osaka with the activities for the Belgian Economic Mission.

During this week, on 8 December 2022 Mr. Renaat Schrooten signed the official Participation Agreement for Expo 2025 Osaka. This marks the official collaboration between Belgium and Japan for the coming world expo. The Participation Agreement was signed during a special Signing Ceremony, making Belgium's participation to the world expo official. It allows BelExpo to kick the preparations for the expo into high gear.

On the same day as the Signing Ceremony, BelExpo organised an information session at the Chapel of the Hilton Hotel in Osaka. The information session served the purpose of attracting Japanese partners as well as Belgian partners that participated in the economic mission and shedding light on BelExpo's activities, our plans for Expo 2025 Osaka and possible collaborations with different partners.

We can definitely conclude that the Belgian Economic Mission to Japan was a big succes, at least from BelExpo's point of view!
