Introducing RealCGR
We have the pleasure of introducing you to our newest partners: RealCGR. These unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions, so together with RealCGR, we signed our first virtual contract. If the past year has taught us anything, it's the importance of resilience, and this is precisely what we are aiming for by keeping up our pace and moving forward with great stamina and brand-new allies. Fortunately, our newest partners are governance software solutions providers, so their main objective revolves heavily around this resilience.
Who are RealCGR?
RealCGR stands for Compliance, Governance and Risk Management.
We provide advisory and implementation services in the fields of corporate resilience, crisis communication, personal data protection, information security, third party cyber risk management and enterprise risk management. Our mission is to contribute to a safer business world.
Assuring readiness to react to a crisis is of paramount importance. To achieve this, we combine services of the highest standards with the use of simple, intuitive, methodical tools meeting the highest security and service standards.
What is the role of RealCGR in respect of the Belgian Pavilion?
Many thousands will visit the Belgian Pavilion and see for themselves what Belgian “art de vivre”, technology and society have to offer. For many reasons we were eager to contribute to the resilience of the Belgian Pavilion. First, it is a matter of contributing to the safety of all people taking part, be it visitors, businesspeople, employees….
We are undertaking the Pavilion’s readiness in case of crisis, its resilience, crisis communications and data protection management. This is by using our own products: RealBCP (allows building resilience and reacting in case of crisis’), RealCRC (a smart notification and alerting tool) and RealDPG (for managing Data Protection Compliance in compliance with the EU-GDPR and many more national data protection laws).
Of course, there is more. We want to share all our experience and contribute to a world-class event. Also, we want to show and demonstrate the vast Belgian expertise in risk-management and contribute to the awareness of risk-management in general.
Let us make no mistake about risks…they are very real and very present. Also, they are numerous and complex. The challenge of ensuring resilience in a vast, live, long-lasting, uninterruptible, precious and complex surrounding like the Belgian Pavilion is really what we do it for…creating robustness and resilience for the Belgian contribution to the World Expo’s public.
What has the impact of Covid-19 been on RealCGR?
Covid-19 has made the world more aware that “the impossible is indeed possible”. It was devastating for society, families and individuals. Covid-19 has speeded up trends. Indeed, some trends were already present. For instance, e-commerce, was of course very well established before Covid-19, but Covid-19 made it impossible to imagine life without it. The same goes for home-office and distance-working. Before Covid-19, it was a matter of self-organization, perhaps reducing commuting between home and offices for ecological or wellbeing reasons. But Covid-19…made it unavoidable and therefore impossible to ignore in any corporate context ever.
What many corporates thought to be very unlikely…a health crisis of this complexity, global and long-lasting…effectively happened. Organizations had to move fast to implement measures and ways to assure continuity of operation.
And so, resilience management does not escape notice. The old days of simple “business continuity management” are over. Managing an organization’s resilience requires a holistic approach, ensuring the continuous and company-wide ability to respond and adapt to a changing world, including risks, threats and crises of all kinds. Signals from the future that are all around us clearly show that resilience must be embedded into the core of business operations. Just as we will do for the Belgian Pavilion.
What is the process of designing the resilience of the Belgian pavilion?
It is most of all a matter of ensuring crisis readiness, this means that the Pavilion will be able to communicate and take any action needed in the case of any adverse event. The latter of course needs a solid risk-analysis of what can possibly happen in the pavilion.
Certainly, we must not forget the aspect of personal data protection. Indeed, the Pavilion hosts dozens of business events like the flagship events “Belgian week”, “Walloon week” and “Flemish week” together with many specialized sectoral events around issues like mobility… This involves lots of processing of personal data. The Pavilion has chosen to handle this aspect in compliance with Belgian, European and international laws and hence guarantees the highest standards in handling of all stakeholders’ personal data.
What are your plans for the future?
RealCGR is committed to international development. It has built out a partner network in Europe and seeks to interest stakeholders like clients and partners in the United Arab Emirates market.
Our clients are corporates and organizations that are essential service providers and/or corporates that operate in highly regulated markets like finance, insurance, energy, telecom, mobility….
But there is more. RealCGR wants to step off the well-trodden paths by showing its interest and ability to operate in the context of smart-cities and resilient cities. This topic is particularly contemporary, social and important as 70% of the world’s population lives in cities or urbanized areas. Therefore, we find it so important and will host a special event with our strategic partner Oracle.
Indeed, RealCGR will host a demo in the business centre of the Belgian Pavilion, showing our technologies using a magnificent scale-model of Dubai City, highlighting state-of-the art, Internet of Things (“IoT”) based security features and picture based chatbots.
This is something we particularly look forward to showing the world. Contributing to (city) resilience is our way to endorse the Expo2020Dubai main theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. Also, we adhere fully to the mission statement of “building partnerships and inspiring ideas that will forge the world of tomorrow”.
