Introducing Envie
For the Belgian Pavilion's exhibition space, we worked together with creative agencies facts and fiction and Envie. Facts and fiction started off the whole process by designing a scenography to perfectly match the idea's, vision, and philosophy we wanted to portray in our exhibition. Envie joined the team to further execute, produce, and perfect the whole idea.
This month Envie will be sharing their vision with us.
Who is Envie and what does your work entail?
Envie was founded 7 years ago filling the void for large scale events with top ranking artists and shows on a European level of quality which quickly made Envie the front-runner in scenographic decors and events in the Middle East.
We are the proud producer, organizer, and promoter of the most spectacular events in the Middle East stemming from our vast experience in the entertainment, hospitality, exhibitions, sporting events and nightlife industry. Priding ourselves on producing top-tier events of any size, Envie brings the most captivating large-scale productions in the Middle East. Our team has years of national and international experience - and even has Belgian ownership!
At Envie we create and execute award winning concepts, events and scenographic décor productions since 2014. Reaching a marketing potential of over 80 million people with an accumulation of 160,000 visitors at our events, we have hosted local and international audiences with visitors from over 50 countries. We hold exclusive contracts for the entire MENA region for selected IPs and are the preferred production partner in the Middle East for all major international promoters based on our experience and proven history of success.
What is the role of Envie concerning the Belgian pavilion?
For the Belgian pavilion Envie is bringing the concepts developed by Krafthaus to life. We produce the scenographic elements, create the content of the different activities and exhibits and develop the physical and visual experience. We plan, strategize, custom-design and execute the entire visitor journey of the Belgian pavilion.
Envie is a unique link in the scenography between the concept by Krafthaus, the content from Belgium and the local knowledge from Dubai to bring the visions of Belgium 2050 to a tangible immersive experience.
During the period the Expo opens its doors for global visitors Envie will also be managing the day to day operations of all scenographic elements, from technical equipment to comic branding and from application to troubleshooting and exhibition preservation - we make sure the show goes on!
What is the process you went through when designing the scenography of the Belgian pavilion?
To bring the scenography from concept and storyboard to physical completion a close collaboration with Krafthaus was established to ensure their visions - and those of BelExpo - became a reality. From selecting the suppliers and ensuring their Belgium origin, to the construction and development of the scenographic elements in the most sustainable, clean and smart way. And we can proudly say the Belgian influence is immense!
To gather and develop all content we are in close contact with various famous Belgian personas, corporations, agencies and other trail-blazers in mobility to showcase the diverse and active participation Belgium offers to the global initiative for a brighter and better future of innovative mobility.
Showcasing to the visitors the vista’s and urban landmarks Belgium is famous for, the spectacular innovations Belgian companies are currently working on and sketching out these visions with the collaboration of world renowned comic artists has been an exhilarating production for our team.
The collaboration with BelExpo, the regions of Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia and the Belgian pioneers and pioneering companies gave us a rich in-depth knowledge of the amazing innovations Belgium has planned for the future - of Belgium and way beyond!
Without giving away too many details, what is the essence/story behind the scenography?
Once visitors reach the Belgium pavilion in the Mobility District they are taken on a tour through history, where Belgian individuals famous for their outstanding contributions on mobility will kick off their journey into the amazing visions Belgium has for the future of mobility. But once they have passed the past it’s up to the future!
In a design honoring the global importance of Belgian comic artists the vision of the future of Belgium in 2050 is sketched. In this sketched world the visitors will experience – and actively participate in! – a multitude of smart mobility innovations and experiences. This will come to expression in an elucidating experience where the visitor will truly be immersed in the future and all its innovations!
And that’s not all, because every kids’ dream to once become a famous comic hero will finally come true when the visitors become, and become one with the comic world of green utopian Belgium in 2050!
How have you experienced working on this project?
Seeing the amazing Belgian innovations that are under development and learning so much in detail about Belgium have really made this a thrilling project to work on for the entire Envie team. The integration of all the various teams from Krafthaus and Besix, the Belgian comic agencies and all the phenomenal Belgian companies and people we are working with to create the magic that will open for all visitors in October 2021 has been very inspirational.
We are especially excited to see the main show in full effect but overall we just can’t wait to welcome the visitors of Expo to the Belgian pavilion and showcase the amazing journey created for them!
