Introducing BESIX 3D
BESIX 3D is a division within BESIX Group that specializes in 3D concrete printing. Actively present in Europe and the UAE they provide a fully integrated solution for your 3D construction projects. In partnership with world’s leading 3DCP design consultants and the market leader in concrete admixtures, they support their clients in each step to guarantee a successful completion.
BESIX 3D has established key partnerships with world-leading players in the world of 3D Concrete Printing, ranging from Universities to design experts and material expert SIKA. SIKA is a leading supplier of speciality chemical products serving construction and industrial markets and moreover a partner of the Belgian Pavilion.
BESIX 3D Studio is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment directly procured from Germany. The main piece of equipment is the KUKA robotic arm, setup in the middle of the production hall to optimise its printing capacity.
Further specialized equipment is the concrete mixing pump, connected to a silo for direct and uninterrupted supply of 3D mortar.
The 3D Studio is operational since December 2018 and several (large scale) elements have been printed since for the purpose of artwork projects. These elements vary in geometry, diameter, height, speed etc. to gain experience in all domains.
The largest 3D printed concrete façade in the world has been completed at the new Dubai headquarters of BESIX. The realization of the project was possible thanks to BESIX 3D. The 3D concrete façade-project is BESIX 3D’s third pioneering project of 2020. Their main aim is to bring concrete to a new dimension. To achieve this, BESIX 3D invested in the development of its own in-house production facility for 3D Concrete Printing in July 2018. It is in this adjacent laboratory that the 290 façade panels were 3D printed in concrete. The printing of each panel took about 10 minutes on average.
The Belgian Pavilion has partnered with BESIX 3D for the development of the concrete planters placed in front of our pavilion.
