Floriade Expo 2022 in Almere came to an end on 9 October 2022. For several months, Almere was transformed into a veritable paradise filled with exotic and distinctive plants. The international horticultural exhibition attracted a wide and varied international audience. The Belgian participation in the expo was already a great success, with the icing on the cake: the Special Award for Sustainability.

Sustainability, ecology and biodegradable materials were therefore central to our garden. Most of the plants in our garden were consequently edible. After the exhibition ended, we decided to give the materials and plants in our pavilion a second life. Hardly anything remained of the edible plants; the curiosity of our visitors clearly took over. The remaining plants were given a new home. Soon, the wooden structure of our pavilion can be admired again, this time in Wallonia, where the structure will be rebuilt. The natural stone returned to nature.

On 1 December 2022, our commissioner-general, Aldwin Dekkers, travelled down to Almere for one last time to hand our plot back to the organisation.

What happens to the Belgian plot now? Our plot was sold and will therefore have new owners. They will decide what to do with the plot!

Our commissioner-general delivers the latest!

The final report from at Floriade 2022

Our plot has become unrecognisable. Commissioner-General Aldwin Dekkers provides a report on his last visit to the exhibition site on 1 December 2022. Do you remember what our Belgian garden looked like? What a metamorphosis!
