BeluBelu world tour: Asia

Written by Myriam Cops | Nov 5, 2025 7:00:00 AM

When Expo 2025 Osaka closed its doors, I, BeluBelu, the little cell who calls the Belgian Pavilion hom, looked back on my travels across the world within a single site. Through every exhibition, every story, and every shared innovation, I witnessed humanity’s extraordinary diversity and unity. Here’s what I learned along the way.

Asia: Futures in Harmony

Returning to Asia, the heart of the Expo, I found myself surrounded by stories that felt both familiar and transformative. These nations wove together nature, technology, and community into vivid blueprints for tomorrow.

🇰🇿 Kazakhstan: Circles of Unity

The Kazakhstan Pavilion, themed “Tolerance, Unity and Possibility”, embodied connection and aspiration. Its circular structure evoked the shanyrak, the symbol at the center of the Kazakh yurt, representing harmony and family.
Inside, four zones, Legacy, People, Opportunities, and Lives, showed how cultural heritage, technological innovation, and social inclusion can coexist. As I wandered through, I sensed a quiet pride: a vision of progress that never forgets where it began.

🇯🇵 Japan: Between Lives

As the host nation, Japan presented a pavilion both elegant and profound. Its theme, “Between Lives”, invited visitors to reflect on coexistence, between humans, nature, and all forms of life.

The circular wooden structure embodied the flow of water and the cycles of existence. Each exhibit explored transformation: from water to material, from material to product, and from waste back to water. I realized that life, like design, is a loop of renewal and I, a humble cell, am part of that eternal rhythm.

🇮🇩 Indonesia: Thriving in Harmony

Shaped like a ship and alive with tropical greenery, Indonesia’s Pavilion felt like a living forest. Under the theme “Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future,” it explored how biodiversity and technology can evolve side by side.
Walking among sculptures, traditional instruments, and smart-city prototypes, I felt surrounded by optimism. Indonesia’s story was one of movement from the rainforest canopy to the digital horizon, all powered by community spirit.

🇨🇳 China: Harmony Between Humanity and Nature

China’s Pavilion, “Building a Community of Life for Man and Nature”, stood as a symbol of green development and cooperation. Its scroll-inspired façade, shaped like flowing bamboo slips, linked tradition and innovation in a single gesture.

Inside, exhibits on deep-sea exploration, lunar research, and renewable energy reflected a future grounded in scientific curiosity and ecological awareness. As I floated past the glowing panels, I thought: perhaps the greatest technology is the one that helps us live in balance.

In Asia’s pavilions, I felt the pulse of transformation. Each nation translated its landscape, philosophy, and innovation into an interconnected story of coexistence. Together, they offered a vision of balance between earth and sky, tradition and technology, individuality and community.

I truly loved every second of my tour across expo. I'm very grateful for the hospitality all the countries have showed us. Who knows, maybe see you soon?
