The Belgian pavilion National Day
On the 5th of February, the Belgian pavilion had the honour of celebrating its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai. We had been preparing for this moment for a very long time and it turned out to be everything we had hoped for. We had the absolute privilege of welcoming Their Majesties, the King and the Queen of the Belgians, as well as H.E. Pierre-Yves Dermagne, Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Employment, H.E. Sophie Wilmès, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade, and the Federal Cultural Institutions and H.E. Annelies Verlinden, Minister of the Interior, Institutional Reforms, and Democratic Renewal. Our trusted partners were of course also part of the occasion, as our pavilion wouldn't be here without their support and sponsorship.
We were supported by amazing artistry along the way as well. The Brussels Ommegang performed around the pavilion throughout the day, but they also stole the heart of every visitor at Expo 2020 as they performed in a parade all around the site. Crossbones Trombones held a beautiful musical performance at the Stage of Nations in the Al Wasl Dome and the Jazz Station big band, honoured Toots Thielemans in the most captivating way at the ground floor of our Belgian pavilion, alongside Wim Hoste & Daniel Verstappen, who also performed during our nighttime rooftop celebrations. Magician Armand surprised our visitors with numerous nifty stunts and the night ended with the beats of DJ Niro and DJ Brialmont, who made sure our guests danced the night away.
Lastly, and most importantly we met the many enthusiastic Belgians who took the time to come to our Belgian pavilion and support us during this festive day. We cannot wait to welcome you to more wonderful events for the last two months of Expo 2020 Dubai.
