The journey of a stone
The Belgian garden in the Beijing Expo 2019 is more than stunning plants and an incredible cloud. This little piece of Belgium gives you a sneak peek into the richness of our heritage.
This stone from Durbuy Castle displayed in China is proof of the architectural marvels and fascinating history of our country.
Thanks to its feudal castle, Durbuy made history in the 11th century – 1000 years ago! Researchers have found the remains of an even older fortified castle, but this building was quickly destroyed. The Count of Durbuy, Henry I of Namur, had the fortress reconstructed in the 11th century. The famous d’Ursel family has owned the castle since 1756.
You can find this wonder along the river Ourthe, after the old bridge that marks the entrance to the city.
